Map and Resource Guide

For version 1.0, the safest resource-finding method is to scan the area you are actually standing in, mark confirmed deposits, and treat older location lists as clues rather than coordinates.

Use the 1.0 Resource Scanner first

Version 1.0 added a Resource Scanner to the map and improved markers for trailers, animals, and explored points of interest. Open the map in the target area, scan before committing to a long loop, and save a marker only after you confirm what the deposit contains.

Build each run around one production goal. If you need a machine part, identify every ingredient and scan for the bottleneck first. This avoids returning home with a full inventory that still cannot complete the recipe.

A repeatable resource loop

  • Choose one recipe or upgrade and write down its missing ingredients.
  • Scan the relevant region, then place your own marker on a confirmed deposit.
  • Travel with enough free capacity and fuel for the return leg.
  • Process raw materials near labeled storage so automation filters stay understandable.
  • Re-scan after a major update instead of assuming every old marker still describes the same deposit.

Nickel: what is actually verified

A 2025 Steam discussion reported nickel in sandy ground around the eastern and southeastern edges of the starting grassland, including water-facing areas and the transition toward Yellow Forest. Those reports can help you choose a direction, but they predate version 1.0 and are not a verified current spawn map.

In 1.0, start with the Resource Scanner. If it produces no useful result, survey sandy boundaries and shoreline transitions as a fallback, then mark any deposit you personally confirm.

Red, yellow, iron, and other searches

Search demand often asks for a single color crystal or ore. The reliable workflow is the same: confirm that the material belongs to the current recipe, scan the region, and use biome transitions as navigation rather than treating a search snippet as a coordinate.

This guide intentionally does not publish an “interactive map” assembled from unverified competitor data. A useful map must identify the game version, observation date, and whether a marker was reproduced. Until that evidence exists, the in-game scanner is more honest and usually faster.

Quick answers

Where is nickel in Lightyear Frontier?+

Use the 1.0 Resource Scanner first. Older community reports point to sandy eastern or southeastern edges of the starting grassland, but those landmarks are not confirmed 1.0 coordinates.

Do resources respawn?+

Respawn behavior can vary by resource and update. Re-scan and test a marked deposit before planning a permanent loop; this guide does not generalize an unverified timer.

Is there an official interactive map?+

The official 1.0 materials confirm an in-game Resource Scanner and improved markers. We did not verify an official external interactive map.
